README - Urban Wind Pattern An ArcGIS Mapping Tool is a product that has been delivered to the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) and the New York City Mayors Office of Recovery and Resiliency (MORR). This mapping tool was delivered to DOB and MORR after completing a “Wind Study” project related to help the DOB and MORR adhere to a Local Law to amend the New York City Building Code related to WIND. After selecting the “Layers Tab” in the ArcGIS system, mapping layers can be turned on and off. The Wind Rose Layers show the Wind Patterns that have been recorded from Weather Stations in the NY Metro Area over decades and also highlights the Wind Gusts that have been recorded by the Weather Stations in the NY Metro Area. The Weather Station Data Sets were made available to NOAA CESSRST by using the NOAA MADIS system as per agreements made with NOAA. The Incidents Data Sets are mapped anonymously as per the agreements made with the NYC DOB and NYC MORR during the Wind Study project.
