Readme.txt The Vaisala CL-51 ceilometer was installed at Yale-Coast site (41.258 N, 72.731 W, 2-m ASL) with the address at 276 Old Quarry Rd, Guilford, CT 06437. It started the data collection through the BLview software on June 5, 2023; the data are stored in NetCDF format (L1-xxx.nc, L3-xxx.nc). The netCDF L1 data file contains level 1 (L1) data from the ceilometer, they are raw attenuated backscatter coefficient profiles with high time-range resolution (16-sec and 10-m) and max. altitude of 15-km. The netCDF L2 data file contains level 2 (L2) data that has gone through the precalculation service and averaging. The netCDF L3 data file contains level 3 (L3) data that has gone through the calculation service and includes all the data from the algorithms, including mixing layer height values, cloud bases and quality index data, and attenuated backscatter profiles below 4.5 km altitude. The aerosol layer heights (maximum three layers) and cloud bases (three layers) are estimated from the BL-View software. These layer heights are prelimanry product and need data quality and assureance before being used due to inherent noises and complext aerosol/cloud structures.
